Missoni For Target

Now THIS I am excited about....

Some Random Mayle For Sale

Awhile back I was lucky enough to snag a sample of the "rising sun" blazer from the holiday 2005 collection. While it has no tag, its definitely a bit small for me. It is however in pristine condition. I would say it would fit a size 4 best.  Terrible photo I know but the jacket nips in at the waist, has no front closure and has gorgeous seam details. Lined with bracelet sleeves.

I also bought this gorgeous pearl belt (from Holiday 2006 from the Mayle archive. Its a bit too small for me, again would best fit a 4. Its in excellent condition.

I may be selling some rare skirts as well.

Please feel free to email me if interested in either of the above.

Chanel Covet

Olympic Proportions

Last night Jon and I had dinner with our friends Jen and William who are both foodies and fond of a tasty cocktail. With it being Saturday night and no one taking reservations for parties less than 6 people we tested our food karma and went to the new Olympic Provisions in NW Portland, not far from where we live.

The food was amazing - we all ordered different dishes and shared, so I didn't feel like I was missing out on the divine Polenta that Jon ordered or the Charcuterie plate that Ken ordered or the great pork dish William had. They also served a great cheese plate and "chocolate" salami for dessert. I was impressed. I additionally enjoyed some fried Hazelnuts, some pickled eggs and a wonderful mixed lettuce salad with fried Hazelnuts and a light lemon dressing. Oh and the cocktails were delicious too!

Rest In Peace

sad as I was to hear of the passing of Jeff Conway yesterday, I was more surprised to hear of the passing of one of my favorite musicians Gil Scott Heron, legendary poet, Godfather of hip hop. Another cultural genius who battled drug and alcohol demons and sadly died of "unknown causes" in a New York hospital.  I feel fortunate to have seen him perform many times and now regret not going to see him when he performed in Portland last year.

I couldn't find any great performance footage, but on You Tube I did find a strange video montage of my favorite GSH song "Home Is Where The Hatred Is" off of the iconic album "Pieces Of A Man."

Miu Miu Fall 2011

The Past Few Days

As I mentioned earlier, the past few days have been crazy and I have hand my emotional ups and downs. I am enjoying week two of this long term freelance job. I actually would not mind staying there for many months. The commute is easy one train, stop is across the street from the building. My only issues are that there is limited food selections for lunch and I haven't been able to hit the gym.  With the long weekend coming up I plan to go to work out Saturday/Sunday and Monday, with the possibility of fitting in a core power yoga class somewhere (hot yoga) and hopefully a bar method class as well.

A friend of mine has been doing Tracy Anderson DVDs and loves it. She sent me the diet which I think is possibly the hardest to follow - especially if you are at a desk all day. The first week is pureed foods only. With another trip to NYC coming up for a friends wedding and none of my Mayle that fit last summer fitting now (especially the Lana gown which I had planned on wearing) I have few options for an evening affair. I am wondering what I can wear or what I could do to even easily lose 5-7 pounds in the next two weeks. I have learned that giving up alcohol did nothing for me weight wise and my "new" problem area is my chest  with my back expanding two inches - the main reason most of my favorite pieces are not fitting... what to do.

JM Sale!

For those of you in NYC looking for some deals on Jeffrey Montiero....

Lapse in Blogging

I have to apologise that I haven't been so active lately. Between working again and helping a friend with some personal problems there appeared to be no time to update, obsess over apparel and precious things.... I will be back though tonight or tomorrow with some new musings...

Your Voice in My Head

Your Voice in My Head: A Memoir

I have always been a fan of Emma Forrest's writing. This weekend I read her new memoir "Your Voice In My Head" in two days.  Its one of the best memoirs that I have read recently and elaborates on her short lived romance with Colin Farrell who really comes across as well, a typical Hollywood actor/douche bag love rat in the book.

Last Pop Up Purchases

I am that girl, who now owns the Leilani dress in 3 colors. On Tuesday I received what may be my final new Mayle purchases for a long time.  I have to say that buying a dress sight unseen (new MH) I was delighted. The MH fits well, has a great line and when I lose 5 pounds will fit even better. I wish it were a 10 so that I could wear it more comfortably now, but its definitely a piece that I will wear often this spring.

Today I am wearing the Zebra Fleur Leilani. Because I do work in a conservative place I have paired it with boots and a chunky necklace. I will try to take a photo later in the full length mirror at work. I was never a fan of the belt that came with it, so I cut off the belt loops and I am wearing it looser.

Busy Busy

I have been so busy at my new freelance job that I haven't had time to do anything - whether troll eBay or read NY Mag online.  That said I will be posting some Mayle for sale this weekend that no longer fits the lifestyle of my friend Jen.  Its a variety of dresses from holiday 2007, tops from spring 2008 and a sweater or two.  Most likely these will go up tomorrow with contact for Jen so you can deal with her directly.

Are You A Good Witch or A Bad Witch?

I can't think of a better person to play the part of Glinda, the good witch in the prequel to the Wizard of Oz. With James Franco and Mila Kunis on board this is definitely a film that I would run to see in the theater. The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite films that I try to watch yearly, along with Gone with the Wind and Auntie Mame.

Dress For Success?

I have always been that person who is over dressed at the office. This new freelance job is no different with the exception that its a fairly conservative office. With the weather getting warmer I am dying to wear some sandals, but that means showing my legs which have tattoos. This is Portland where pretty much every other person has something outrageous tattooed on them.   Today with the weather hitting 72, I wore my leopard print Kate Spade dress with my Mayle boots and a cardigan. Tomorrow its meant to be closer to 80, and I need to decide if showing some skin (meaning my lower legs) is in or out.   With a majority of people in Portland wearing boots in even 90 degrees I think I could get away with it. The idea of wearing leggings under an A-line dress doesn't really appeal to me.

What would you do? Eventually I will have to show my tattoos I just think that the first week isn't necessarily the best timing.

That said I really need to make that appointment at the laser removal center! Success

Kitchen Therapy

My friend Anne's remodeled kitchen in Seattle, on apartment therapy.  I saw the before and after - and Anne did this without the help of an architect I believe. Its beautiful. Sad that we won't get to enjoy the summer with them in their gorgeous backyard as they are in Singapore for two years.

Floral Fever

I just received these Liberty of London x Nike Air Force One's as a gift

Cinema

Was such a good film. not a fan of Kate Hudson so I was wary - but its worth seeing.

Some News!

Very good week its been. On Monday I finally got an all clear from my doctor and had a great meeting about a future job. On Weds I not only saw a great film with a good friend but found out that I got a 60 day freelance job that I interviewed for last week.  I cannot even put into words how elated I am that this job will pay off the rest of my debt, help me save a bit of money and have a positive outlook towards the future.

Today I also took a hot yoga class at Core Power with my friend Romani. I have never perspired so much in my life but felt so good.  Life is looking up in so many ways.

Closet Clean Out

I wish that I could say that the above closet is mine. It's not it belongs to Carrie Bradshaw.  I am however doing something Carrie never does, I am cleaning out my closet. On eBay are a some select pieces like:

A sequined J.Crew goldish cardigan that I never wore (NWT) for $34.99
A selection of Jeffrey Montiero dresses for $50! (Total retail?  Too scared to calculate)
A great J.Crew necklace that I never wore (and its now too late to return) for $24.99
Oh, and a black Mayle sweater dress size M for $34.99

Why low prices you may ask? I just want the stuff out of my house and the sad thing is I never wore any of it (with the exception of the Mayle dress).

Naughty

I was naughty. Instead of saving some of the money I made recently from the NY job that I did a few weeks ago I splurged at the pop up purchasing the MH dress with the Haiti print and the belt with the large stones. After  health scare this week (including a full on pass out on a busy sidewalk) I was feeling like I deserved a little something.  I had been so on the fence but as I thought about the dress more and more I imagined it styled with my new locket from JCrew, my Prada sandals from spring 2007. I imagined it as something I could wear to an office if I am fortunate enough to find a new office job.

As it seems that YES this is REALLY IT for Mayle I dipped into my savings. Rumour has it that Jane will be back soon, but doing something that is really guided by her passion for housewares. Photos to come soon.

Some Hot Looks From Zara

I know, here I am obsessing over cheap clothing, AGAIN. But there really is something about Zara that's so European that I love. Plus these summer looks are chic AND cheap. Now if only I lived near one of their US locations (and no there is not one in Seattle).
